Integrative Motivation

Motivation to learn a language based on genuine interest in the culture, people, and community associated with it. The strongest predictor of long-term language learning success in the research literature. More durable than instrumental motivation (learning for a specific goal) because it does not expire when the goal is achieved or becomes unavailable.
