Filial Piety

Literal Translation
The virtue of respect, care, and duty toward parents and ancestors — xiaoshun in Chinese, hyodo in Korean, oyakoko in Japanese. One of the five key Confucian relationships. The obligation is not optional in Confucian social architecture. Failure to fulfil it is a social as well as a personal moral failing.
