Osamu Tezuka

Literal Translation
(1928-1989) The foundational figure of manga and anime. Called the "god of manga" in Japan. His visual vocabulary — large expressive eyes borrowed from Disney, specifically Bambi — became the dominant aesthetic of the medium. Most anime character design traces directly or indirectly back to Tezuka.
