A period of Chinese history (220-280 CE) following the collapse of the Han dynasty, during which three rival states competed for control of China. Also the subject of one of China's four classical novels, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which remains one of the most influential works in Chinese literature and has shaped Chinese storytelling, martial arts culture, and popular imagination for over a thousand years.
